About
City Scooter Tours Our tours began in the Spring of
2004, to coincide with the unveiling of the National World War II Memorial.
We had many wonderful comments about our inaugural season and look forward
to more great seasons of informative and fun ventures.
We operate out of the Segs in the City kiosk at The Old Post Office Pavilion
on Pennsylvania between 10th and 12th Street.
Tour
Information HOW do your tours work?
Tour participants meet at The Old Post Office Pavilion at designated times
(see tour schedule for regularly scheduled tours; group tours are scheduled
individually). Our staff provides each participant with a fully-charged
scooter and an electronic headset. After a simple lesson on scooter-usage,
the guide leads the group on their adventure. Several stops are built
into the tour, and there are plenty of opportunities to ask questions
or take pictures.
HOW can I rent a scooter or wheelchair?
You may reserve your rental equipment ahead of time through our on-line
reservation system, or stop by the kiosk at The Old Post Office Pavilion.
Please bring your driver's license or passport and MasterCard or Visa.
A credit card authorization or cash deposit is required for each scooter
or wheelchair. Payment for rental is due upon equipment return. See rentals
for more information.
WHO can participate?
Our tours are carried out at a safe, relaxing pace -- no faster than 5mph
(the maximum speed of the scooter). We welcome anyone who is capable of
driving the scooter safely (including children over age 13 who have been
approved of and signed for by an adult). A parent or guardian must accompany
children under 16. We will do our best to accommodate any special needs-please
contact us.
WHO leads the tours?
Our tour guides are well-versed in the sites and history of DC and will
provide many stories and little-known facts about the area. All guides
have been professionally licensed and trained in CPR and First Aid.
WHAT do I need to bring?
We will provide you with a fully-charged scooter and an electronic headset
so that you can hear every word the tour guide has to say. All scooters
have a basket in the front and a pocket in the rear -- this means you
can bring along some items that will make your 3-hour tour more enjoyable.
For example, a light snack extra jacket, camera, etc.
Each participant will be required to sign a waiver and release form at
the start of the tour. Children not of legal age must have a parent or
guardian sign his or her waiver.
HOW do I check availability and make reservations?
Our on-line reservation system allows you to check availability and/or
reserve your tour or rental on-line with a Visa or Mastercard. Visit the
Welcome page and complete the rental request
in full. For additional assistance, please call 888-441-7575.
